As soon as the summer fades away in Finland, autumn is a prime time for wild super foods to grow and mature. Forests are blooming with nutrition-filled, colorful berries. Would be a waste to not to pick them up for long upcoming winter!
Blueberries are ready to be picked from the late July until the early September. They taste awesome when eaten straight from the hummock, sprinkled on your breakfast in the morning, and especially when made into a traditional Finnish blueberry pie. The nature looks beautiful in the autumn sun, when the trees are slowly loosing their greeness and bringing the orange tones alive.
Obviously the best part of the trip is still the snack break with coffee, home made sandwiches and a chocolate bar - knowing that the next day's breakfast will be topped up with fresh, hand-picked blueberries.
